The Lower Rosses
Ireland seems to have a staggered notion of summer--May and September. Everything in between was saturated. But, today--after a night of howling off-shore gales and lashing rain, was as fine as day as ever. So, I took myself down to the Lower Rosses which is the back-side of Rosses Point. It's been a great berry year because of the fine May. Now the blackberry bramble and elderberry trees are heavy with fruit. The apples are over-laden as well. Our Neighbors brought over a huge bucket of apples yesterday--some of which went right into a crumble and some of which get shared with the horses down the road. The pumpkin patch was whipped into a tatterted mess last night; but, now I can see all the pumpkins and Uchiki Kuri that were hidden from me. Guess it's harvest time...
